Greg Oliver

Assistant Director of Athletics

Greg Oliver

Assistant Director of Athletics

oliverg@mustangps.org

Greg is a 1990 graduate of Mustang High School. As a Bronco, he played football and was a three-year starter at various positions including tight-end, defensive-end, and special team’s deep snapper. While wearing a Bronco jersey, his biggest memory was playing against the defending state champions, the Midwest City Bombers, in one of the first nationally televised high school football games.

Oliver continued his football career at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. As a freshman, he earned the starting deep snapper position and a spot on the kick-off team. He gained experience as a back up outside linebacker while pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. Unfortunately, the university began to change its athletic blueprint which led to the dissolving of a tradition rich football program. Greg then pursued a career in coaching/teaching by attended the University of Central Oklahoma and graduating in December 1994 with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and an emphasis in Social Studies. He then completed a Master of Education Degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2009.

Greg started his teaching and coaching career at Western Heights High School. In 1996, he returned to Mustang, and served as an Assistant Football Coach and Ninth Grade Baseball Coach. He soon began working with the Girl’s Track Team as the Field Events Coach and eventually became the Head Girl’s Track and Field Coach. Under Coach Oliver, the Lady Bronco’s earned a Third-Place team finish at the 2005 Oklahoma 6A State Track and Field Championships. In the classroom, he taught Advanced Placement European History and World Geography.

In 2008, Oliver took what he claims was a “leap of faith” and helped open SouthMoore High School. He established the school’s first Girl’s Track and Field program based on athletic and character development. He was also the Head Ninth Grade Football Coach and interim Head Boy’s and Girl’s Cross Country Coach. Greg eventually left the sidelines and acquired the roll of Assistant Principal, where he served for 11 years.

Greg married his “High School Sweetheart”, Vicki Justik. They have two daughters, Lauren and Madison, who both graduated from Mustang High School as Valedictorians and All-State Athletes (Lauren 2015 Swim and Madison 2018 Soccer). They are truly a Bronco Family.

Coach Guziec also oversees areas of communication, graphic design, scheduling, and promotions. She is a member of the OIAAA/NIAAA and to continue her growth as an administrator, Andrea is currently working on her CAA certification to be completed in 2022.

Prior to this position, Guziec spent 23 years as a high school teacher and head girls basketball coach. She spent time at Idabel, Putnam City West, Putnam City North (her alma mater) and Westmoore high schools before going to Mustang. Andrea taught business classes, economics and for most of her career, math.

Coach Guziec received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in 1995. She was a four year letterman and a team captain her senior year for the Lady Mustang basketball team where she played in every game of her career. Her biggest claim to fame while playing at SMU was scoring the winning basket against UT her senior year…this was the Lady Mustangs first ever win over Texas! Guziec also holds an MBA from the University of Central Oklahoma.

As a coach Guziec compiled a record of 282-288 with her winningest school being her Alma Mater, Putnam City North (112-67) and her winningest season being at Westmoore in 2016 (24-3). She was a two-time All-State coach and received the Charles K. Heatley Lifetime Achievement Award. Coach Guziec was the conference coach of the year 6 times: once with a team that didn’t win a conference game and once with a team that went undefeated in the conference!

As a high school student, Andrea was involved in music, sports, and leadership. She was the concert master for the orchestra for 2 years, a letterman for the basketball team for 3 years and captain her senior year, an Academic All American, an All State Orchestra member, a basketball All State alternate and her teachers and classmates voted her Miss Panther, the schools most prestigious non-academic award.

Guziec’s family now resides in Texas. Her mom, Nancy, is her biggest supporter when she isn’t traveling the country with her friends. Andrea has one brother, Doug, who along with his wife, Michelle and three children, Andrew, Peyton and Carson make trips south of the red river a regular necessity… despite her clear allegiance to Oklahoma’s schools and universities!
