Head Coach
Lee Blankenship
blankenshipl@mustangps.orgRecord 103-53
Coach Blankenship enters his seventh season as the Head Coach of the Mustang Broncos. In the previous five seasons as the Broncos Head Football Coach, Blankenship has compiled a perfect 7-0 record against arch rival Yukon, led the Broncos to four consecutive State Quarterfinal appearances, and a State Semifinals appearance (7th in school history). In 2022, the Broncos finished with an 8 win regular season record, the first 8+ win regular season since the Broncos entered Class 6A Division 1, and only the sixth Bronco Football team to win 8+ regular season games since 1990. Since the creation of 6A Division 1, the Bronco’s had never won enough district games to solidify a 1st or 2nd place district finish, and thus a home field playoff game. In the Blankenship era, the Broncos have done it 3 times. In 2025, Coach Blankenship received the prestigious Semper Fidelis Coach Award presented by the United States Marine Corps.
Prior to coaching, Blankenship had a playing career at Spiro High School, the University of Oklahoma, and East Central University. After his playing career, Blankenship began coaching as an assistant coach at Spiro High School, Union Christian Academy and Wilburton High School before advancing to head coach status at Class A Gore High School in 2011. In 2013, Blankenship took over as the Head Football Coach at 3A Beggs High School where he led the Golden Demons to their first State Championship appearance since 1977. Blankenship was named 2017 Regional Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the Oklahoma Coaches Association Coach of the Year.
Coach Blankenship and his wife Abbey have two son's, Cole (9) and Clay (6).
