Juan Lucas
arenaslucasj@mustangps.orgRecord 11-9
Juan is currently in his second year as Head Coach at Mustang, bringing a wealth of international coaching credentials and playing experience to the program. He holds a Spanish Soccer Coach License Level 2, which is equivalent to the prestigious UEFA A License. Originally from Madrid, Spain, Juan brings an authentic European soccer perspective to his coaching philosophy.
His coaching career has developed through progressive leadership roles across multiple programs. Most recently, Juan served as Head Boys Soccer Coach at Mount St. Mary Catholic High School during the 2023-2024 season. Previously, he served as the Head Girls Soccer Coach at Newcastle High School for the 2022-2023 season and spent three years as an Assistant Boys Soccer Coach at Newcastle High School from 2019 to 2022. He has also been actively involved as a Club Soccer Coach since 2021, continuing to develop players at the competitive club level
Juan's playing career provided him with high-level experience on both sides of the Atlantic. He competed at the collegiate level as a member of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) soccer team from 2017 to 2020, where he distinguished himself as the team's top scorer in 2017. Before coming to the United States, Juan developed his skills in Spain's competitive youth system, playing in the Top Youth Leagues of Spain from the U13 through U19 age groups.
Academically, Juan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in 2020, also completing minors in both Chemistry and Education. This combination of international playing experience, coaching credentials, and educational background positions him well to develop both the athletic and personal growth of his student-athletes.
Outside of school, Juan enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Summer, and his dog Luna. He loves talking about his homeland and welcomes any opportunity to speak his native language, staying connected to his Spanish roots while building his coaching career in Oklahoma.

longc@mustangps.orgRecord
Coach Long is a 1991 graduate of P.C. West High School, where he played soccer for 11 years with Northwest Optimist Soccer Club. He went on to play basketball at Rice University and Southern Nazarene University, earning two Bachelor of Science degrees from Southern Nazarene in 1997 and 1998—one in Pre-Law/Social Studies and another in Secondary Education. He also holds minors in Sports Management/Coaching and Music Performance. During his college years and beyond, Coach Long worked at Kanakuk camps for 11 summers from 1992 to 2003.
Now in his 24th year at Mustang High School, Coach Long teaches World History, Oklahoma History, The American West, and the American Civil War. Known as a living Oklahoma History encyclopedia, he was named the 2022-23 Mustang High School Teacher of the Year.
Coach Long's coaching career is equally impressive. In his 23rd year as a soccer coach at Mustang, he also coached basketball for 13 years, amassing an outstanding record that includes 18 first-place tournament championships and a remarkable 60-game winning streak over four seasons—featuring three consecutive undefeated seasons. He contributed to the Mustang girls' 2006 State Championship and was named Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association's Junior High Basketball Coach of the Year in 2010, the same year he led the JV soccer team to a JV State Championship.
Beyond the classroom and field, Coach Long enjoys playing guitar and leading praise and worship. He loves embarking on road trip adventures with his wife, Angie, his favorite co-pilot. He is immensely proud of his 20-year-old daughter, Melanie, who plays college volleyball at Southern Nazarene University and is majoring in Pre-Pharmacy. He is also proud of his step-daughter, Kassidy, who is finishing out her senior year at UCO, and his 13-year-old step-son, Dawson, who keeps him busy with laughs and history trivia.

TJ Renyer
renyert@mustangps.orgRecord
TJ Renyer is a 2019 graduate of Mustang High School and a 2023 graduate of Oklahoma Christian University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management. He currently teaches Algebra 1 at Mustang High School.
As a player at Mustang, TJ was part of a historic era for the program. Helping the team make its first state semifinal appearance in 2017 and captaining the team to another state semifinal run in 2019. Those experiences continue to shape his approach as a coach and educator.
TJ is passionate about building strong relationships with his players and students, emphasizing character development and preparing them to succeed as responsible adults beyond high school. His coaching philosophy is rooted in discipline, hard work, integrity, and responsibility, with a desire to play a clean, organized, and visually appealing brand of soccer that reflects those same values.
TJ and his wife, Madi—a postpartum nurse at INTEGRIS Baptist—are both Mustang graduates. They are proud parents to their son, Beckham, and enjoy life with their two dogs, Tuna and Davie. In their free time, they enjoy OU football, Manchester United, family walks, and spending time with friends. They are excited to begin their first season with their son and are grateful to call Mustang Soccer a second home.
