Head Coach Katie Smith ( Bass):
Coach Katie Smith (Bass) is from Edmond, Oklahoma. She played basketball for Edmond Santa Fe High School, her father Paul Bass was her coach. She still holds the record for the most three’s in a game which was 8. After high school she went on to play collegiate basketball at Panhandle State University. She finished out her degree at University of Central Oklahoma in Physical Education and Health. She was the head girl’s basketball coach at US Grant High School 2009-2011. She then went on to be her father Paul Bass’s assistant at Edmond Santa Fe High School. Paul Bass won back to back state championships in 2011 and 2012. State runner-up in 2013. In 2015 she went on the become the head girls’ basketball coach at Midwest City High School. Her first year as head coach at MCHS Coach Smith (Bass) lead her team to a 6a State Champions in 2016. She was at MCHS for 4 years and her record was 72-31. She has three beautiful children, Keegan is in 12th grade at Mustang HS this year, plays both football and basketball. Kamryn is a 11th grader at Mustang HS she plays basketball and 3 time All Stater in Choir and Khloe is in 5th grade at Horizon Intermediate she play basketball and sings in the choir. Her husband Bryon Smith, is her biggest fan and support system. She loves helping the community as much as she can and being with her family. Her favorite quote is “Practice the boring stuff”. #GID (GET IT DONE) Words from Coach Bass “I love coaching these young ladies and bringing my fast pace defensive philosophy. I am so excited and blessed to be apart of this loving Mustang community. I love teaching the game but also helping young ladies off the court be role models and that education comes first!
